First Snow of December

When the forecast predicted snow I was ecstatic! This will be the only time I appreciate it in New York City. After a while it can be more of a burden with the gray slush seeping through your shoes. I decided to make most of my day by first stopping in Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. What did I order? Any three donuts with a coffee, please. $4.30. Yes.

After filling my belly with sweetness I took an easy walk from Greenpoint to check out Guillermo Del Toro's new film The Shape of Water playing at the Williamsburg Cinema. $9.00 for a matinee. Yes.

The Shape of Water was a cinematic gem! No spoiler alerts here, but it made this broken heart smile (pardon the dramatic tone). I was now at a crossroads. Do I go home and snuggle with the pups or finally try Katz's? I wasn't even that hungry, but the thought of meat was enough to persuade.

I waited about twenty minutes. It was busy when I arrived and I did get cut by a tourist who swore they were in front of me. I kept my cool. She was from England and I'm from the Bronx. I understood. For one pastrami sandwich with mustard and a bottle of water it came up to $26.00. Was it worth it? Yes!

My snow day had turned into a tasteful journey. With good food, good art, and a good attitude, the weather will always be good.

Ciao,

Lucy
